The Northside Gallery, located in the historic Northside Presbyterian Church in North Chattanooga, is proud to present the “Mountain Musings” art exhibit, featuring Lookout Mountain Art Group.
The culture of gathering inspired artists on Lookout Mountain has a long tradition. In 1947, one of the first outdoor art exhibits was held at Fannie Mennen’s home at the back of Lookout Mountain, Georgia. Years earlier, Mrs. Mennen’s property was called Plum Nelly when her brother-in-law, Louis Marks, after driving what seemed a long way from Chattanooga, remarked, “Fannie, your place is plum out of the Tennessee and almost out of Georgia. (Louis’ Virginia Tidewater accent was responsible for the change from almost to nelly.)
This ‘Mountain Musings’ gallery exhibit includes a wide range of artistic styles from a select group of artists from the Rising Fawn area, ‘Plum Nelly’.
Artists featured are Bonnie Cayce – textile art, Clair Vassort – silk painting, Beth Bradford – acrylic, Georgia Pollock – oil, Abbie Brooks – Mixed media, Ellen Franklin – oil and acrylic, Heidi Wilson – watercolour, Julie Clark – photography, Mary Jo Jablonski – Watercolor, Mary Ann Clemons – Ecological Dye and Connie Ward – 3D Mixed Media.
