WILLIAMSBURG – The Williamsburg Center for Contemporary Art (WCAC) is set to host its Fall Member Cooperative Exhibit beginning August 10. The art exhibition will run until September 23 in the main and intermediate galleries of the WCAC.
Much like the Spring 2022 Members’ Co-op Show, the Fall Co-op Show is comprised of artists, photographers, and artisans who work in a variety of mediums and art styles.
“The Members Co-op Show offers our members’ artists the opportunity to display a collection of their best works in the galleries of the centre. Our visitors also have a better understanding and insight into the unique style and abilities of each artist or artisan,” said WCAC Chair Janis Wood. “We will feature 12 participating artists and artisans and each will have their own wall or section. We’re very excited about the variety of styles and mediums that will be on display, including two- and three-dimensional artwork.
WCAC, located at 110 Westover Ave., is open Wednesday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“The annual members’ exhibition ‘Camera to brush and Beyond’ will run concurrently in the Fireside Gallery, an always popular and fun-to-view exhibit. Participating member photographers bring one or more photographs chosen by artists and/or artisans to interpret them in their own style and medium. The original photograph and its interpretation are displayed side-by-side for comparison purposes,” the WCAC noted in a press release.
The Artisan Corner, adjacent to the Fireside Gallery, will also showcase new fiber art, jewelry, ceramics and other three-dimensional artwork.
The cooperative lounge helps support WCAC members. In addition, the art exhibit helps raise awareness of local art and artists throughout the community. Therefore, visitors will be able to buy any piece presented at the show.
